Zebra cakes for breakfast?!!

I had to be at work early this morning so I had to drop Breeley off at daycare around 7:15. I normally drop her off around 8:15-8:30, so I've never witnessed the early routine. Before 7:30, they have the toddlers-3 yrs together in one room. When we arrived, they were eating "breakfast," which parents bring for their children if they don't have time to eat at home. I needed something easy that she could feed herself without too much mess, so I brought a banana and Nutrigrain bar for Breeley. She loves bananas and the Nutrigrain was a special treat in my mind. Here is what the other children were eating:

-a Hardee's biscuit
-oreos dipped in milk
-two zebra cakes
-doritos with a can of diet orange soda
-a Rice Krispy treat

Seriously!! That's what their parents packed for breakfast!! We're guilty of the occasional hamburger and fries on weekends, but oreos for breakfast?! I don't even want to go in to all the things that were wrong with this picture.

Breeley was thrilled to sit at the table with her banana, Nutrigrain, and milk. So thrilled that she easily waved me good-bye despite not knowing anyone in the room, including the teacher. Next time I will bring enough bananas and a box of Nutrigrains to share!!

Fall is in the Air

Today we met my friend Suzanne and her little girls, Izzie and Maddie, for lunch at Zesto's and a walk at the Riverwalk. Izzie is 2 1/2 and Maddie is 7 weeks. Breeley and Izzie had fun playing together, and it was great for Breeley to be around a baby. She doesn't understand that we are having a baby, but she seems to like them at least!

Breeley was content to ride in the stroller, but she also enjoyed walking (and swinging her arms--very cute!). Izzie was cute walking her baby in her stroller too!

Here she is waving at the man mowing the grass. She is very friendly! She waves at everyone!

It was a perfect 75-80 degrees with a slight breeze. Today made me very excited about fall! We took an evening walk and the temp was below 80 for the first time in months, and someone was burning brush or something, so it smelled like fall in the air. Plus, football starts in 2 days when USC plays NC State! I'm sure we have more sun and hot temps ahead, but today was a nice teaser for what fall will bring!
