Bee is for Breeley

Let the Halloween festivities begin!

Breeley is being a BEE this year! It's an appropriate costume because I often call her Bee. I actually bought the costume last year after Halloween at CVS... for $2!! She is definitely getting that money's worth! We had several fun things planned for Halloween weekend!

First, on Thursday, we were off to Trick-or-Treat with the Greeks, an annual Halloween tradition at the USC Greek Village. All the fraternities and sororities had games set up, but Breeley's absolute favorite was pumpkin bowling, where she threw a mini pumpkin at 2-liter bottles, which ended up as throwing a mini pumpkin all around and laughing hysterically. (Earlier she'd thrown a ping-pong eyeball into a bowl--and made it!--so we were seeing a theme with the throwing.) Unfortunately, since we had to go to this right after work, I forgot the camera in my rush to get ready in the morning. I was bummed to miss Breeley's first night out in costume, but there would be more opportunities...

Friday morning I joined Breeley's daycare class for the costume parade, which consisted of corraling small children to each room to collect candy from the other classes. Whew - talk about mass chaos, but they were happy!

Friday night we headed to Boo at the Zoo! Every year, for a few weeks before Halloween, Riverbanks Zoo decorates for Halloween, gives out candy, and has Halloween games and music.

She started to get the hang of this trick-or-treating thing.

Wear cute costume...

Walk around with pumpkin bucket...

Hold up bucket...

Eat something yummy from bucket! (She would have eaten it as she got it if we let her! Obviously we'll only let her have certain pieces and the amount is very regulated!)

Breeley loves to dance! Pretty much as soon as she heard the music, she was out "dancing" in the middle of the fog. Her dancing consists mostly of jumping (she gets about 1/8 inch of air and moves forward with each jump), bouncing, clapping, and doing the wheels-on-the-bus hand role. The video wouldn't load, but trust me, it's cute!!

She can jump a lot higher with Daddy's help!

It was a fun family outing and she was worn out!! She slept until 9:30 the next morning, which meant Mommy did too! (Brian, on the other hand, got up at 5 a.m. to go hunting. He might have been jealous except he ended up getting a nice doe.)

Stay tuned for more of our Halloween fun!
